Mary McNeely

Mrs. Mary Lucille Stockton McNeely, 78, was born in Rowan County on December 15, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Gaston Clark and Helen Phifer Stockton. She departed this life in Greensboro, N. C. on Thursday, September 5, 2019, unexpectedly. She was a graduate of RA Clement High School and was a member of Cameron Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and a member of the Presbyterian Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Mae Stockton Brawley and Nellie Jane Mucherson; and two brothers-in-law, John Mucherson and Leon Brawley; a sister-in-law, Andrea Linney Stockton; and a grandson, Angelo Stockton. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her husband, Mr. Jerry McNeely of Queens, New York; one son, Russell (Kindra Selmon) McNeely of Fort Worth, Texas; four daughters, Lucinda Stockton (Dockery) Youngblood of Shelby, Teresa Stockton of Lilburn, Georgia, Lisa McNeely of Troutman and Stacey McNeely (Howard, Pressley, Jr.) of Greensboro; three brothers, Clarence Eugene (Shirley) Stockton of Lumberton, Henry (Opal) Stockton of Cleveland and Isaac Stockton of Statesville; a sister, Barbara Ann Clark of Statesville; a special niece, Carolyn (Jesse) Powell; two special cousins, Katie Elizabeth Moore of Troutman and Helen Moore of Statesville; twelve grandchildren, Torrey Stockton and Tshilanda Stockton, both of Statesville, James Lucas, Antwan (Kayla) Lucas and Katreina Saliu, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Russell McNeely of Greensboro, Chenell (Aaron) Maddox and Brandon McNeely, both of Troutman, Deion Pressley and Zachary Pressley, both of Greensboro, Kenya Borders of Shelby and Mahogany (Marion) Smith of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Devin Bowman, Ta’ari Stockton, Chance Stockton, Torrey Stockton, Jr., Toray Stockton, Keria Stockton, Sharod Phelps, Richard Phelps, Rickia Phelps, A’mya Flowers, Atavious Flowers, Julian Lucas, Donte Henry, Damian Lucas, Dustin Lucas, Aliyah Cowan, Aniyah Morrison, Christopher McNeely, Tre’Mayne McNeely, Savanna McNeely, Jaylin Cauthen, Tyrese Knox, Aaron Maddox, Kennedy Maddox, Jaliyah McNeely, Brianna McNeely, Brandon McNeely, Jr., Jasmine Parks, Ivy Youngblood, Jaden Youngblood, Paris Smith, Tyler Chatman and Carter Smith; great great grandchildren, Knylah Stockton, Ivy Stockton, Journey Schofield, Jacobi Phelps and JaCorey Phelps; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, neighbors and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, September 13, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Cameron Presbyterian Church. Reverend Timothy Bates, Pastor will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. McNeely will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1:00 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of a granddaughter, 191 Pine Haven Road, Statesville, N.
