Mildred Dunlap Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Louise Morrison Dunlap, 93, of 1372 Eufola Road, Statesville, was born in Iredell County on April 26, 1926, and was the daughter of the late John Everette Morrison, Sr. and Willie Mae Houpe Morrison. She departed her life on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the Heritage Place Adult Living Center following an extended illness. She was married to Paul Dunlap, Jr., who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Dwight Eugene Dunlap, a grandson, Rico Vashion Wormack; brothers, John Everette Morrison, Jr., Lulie William Morrison, James Clyde Morrison and a sister, Requa Williams. She joined Logan Presbyterian Church in Scotts, N. C. at a very early age. She held positions as a Deacon and an usher, attended Sunday School, was a member of the United Presbyterian Women Organization, the Progressive Women and served on the Kitchen Committee. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her daughters, Brenda (Roy) Wilson, Jr. and Mae D. Ramseur, both of Statesville; grandsons, David Chris Wormack of Charlotte, Ernest Wayne Ramseur, II of Statesville and Andre’ Maurice (Dawn) Ramseur of Fayetteville; eight great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Nadine Morrison of Statesville, Madie Morrison of Cleveland, Ohio, Rev. Modean (Shirley) Dunlap of Statesville, Pauline Dunlap Byers and Margeret Dunlap Shipp, all of Statesville; brother-in-law, Nathaniel (JoAnn) Dunlap of Statesville; two special first cousins, Jeanette Morrison Millsaps and James Ellis, both of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Logan Presbyterian Church family, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Logan Presbyterian Church in Scotts. Reverend Kaye Barrow-Ziglar will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Dunlap will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
