Mr. Mitchell Beverly Shay Thomas, beloved son of the late Samuel "Sam" Paul Thomas, Sr. and Ina Colleen Morrison Thomas, was born in Iredell County on November 5, 1957. He passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. He attended Job Core and at an early age he attended Zion Wesley AME Zion Church. He later attended Covenant Christian Center and was a loving person, always wanting to help everyone. He’s always ask, “Do you have any bread (money), because he wanted to make sure you had some”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel "Booster" Thomas and George Blakely "Gebe" Thomas, and two sisters, Margaret Kathleen "Pap" Thomas and Susie Thomas Morgan. He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his siblings, William Ike (Joanne) Thomas of Charlotte, Steven "Keith" (Barbara) Thomas of Bradenton, Fl, Carrie "Keita" (Larry) Gabriel of Statesville, Harold "Leon" (Jane) Thomas of Wilmington, Charles (Wendy) Thomas of Sherrills Ford, Manasseh "Nasseh" Thomas and Andrew "Jim" Thomas, both of Troutman; three aunts, Emma Jean Morrison Huggins and Myrle Thomas, both of Statesville and Mildred Thomas of Winston-Salem; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In tears we saw you sinking, and watched you fade away Our hearts were almost broken, because we wanted you to stay But when we saw you sleeping, so peacefully and free from pain How could we wish you back with us, to suffer that again It breaks our hearts to lose you, but you do not go alone For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Reverend Marcus Williams will officiate and Reverend Willie Williams will eulogize. Members of the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
