Norman Eugene Morrison, son of the late Robert and Catherine Morrison, was born in Iredell County on July 18, 1940. He entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Gordon Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Hester W. Morrison, his second wife Ada L. Morrison, a son, Norman T. Morrison, two brothers, Luther Warren and James Lawrence Morrison and two sisters, Nancy Morrison Gaymon and Shirley Morrison Tabor.

Norman was a graduate of Unity High school. He was baptized and a lifelong member of Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army - 1st Battalion, 19th Field Artillery in Ft. Carson, Colorado after serving his country for several years. After his years of service, Mr. Morrison began his career at Hoechst Celanese Corporation in Salisbury, NC and remained employed until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post 217 and a past Master and member of the Mount Carmel Mason Lodge.

Norman leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, a son, Steven L. Morrison of Statesville, two daughters, Tonya Brown (Danny) of Raleigh, NC and Traci of Knightdale, NC.: sisters, Evelyn Gibbs, Karen Morrison and Wanda Beatty (Ricky) all of Statesville, and Lynda Morrison-Prattis of Philadelphia, PA; brothers: John Robert Morrison (Sue) of Charlotte and Steven Morrison of Virginia; sisters-in-law: Catherine Allen and JoAnn Morrison of Statesville; four aunts, Joan Morrison, Annie Morrison and Jo Carolyn Morrison, all of Statesville, Ethel Morrison of Tampa, Florida; three grandchildren, Myles Alexander Brown, Devin Waddell and Norman Morrison, Jr.; a special “Daughter and Caregiver” – Kimberley Sloan; Faith Alliance; special neighbors Clarence Gary and Hubert Bellamy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Gordon Hospice House for their generosity, care and comfort during this time.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend Dr. Dietrich M. Danner will officiate and burial will follow in the National Cemetery.
