Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalms 91:1
Mr. Robert Lee Adams, Jr., beloved son of Mrs. Mary Lee Howell Adams Bailey and the late Robert Lee Adams, Sr., was born in Iredell County on April 19, 1954. He departed this life at his residence in Mooresville, N. C., on August 1, 2018, unexpectedly.
Billy, as he was affectionately called, was a graduate of Statesville High School and at the time of his death was employed by the Iredell Statesville School System as a Group Leader in the After school Program. He was married to Antoinette Handon-Adams of Washington, D. C., who survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life, one son, Levar Macon of Pasedena, Maryland; one daughter, Robbi Nicole Adams of Lynchburg, Virginia; two stepchildren, Desmond Handon and Desirree’ Handon, both of Washington, D. C.; four sisters, Gwendolyn (Frank) Turman, Barbara Burke, Patricia Feimster and Charlene (William) Whittenton, all of Statesville; three grandchildren, Kameran Nehemiah Adams of Lynchburg, Virginia, Myles Macon and Hailey Macon, both of Pacedena, Maryland; seven great grandchildren, Makali Handon, David Handon, Desmond Handon, Jr., Daylen Handon, Mackenzie Handon, Dayla Handon and Daja Bolding, all of Washington, D. C.; a brother-in-law, Dwight (Cynthia) Handon of Fairfax Station, Virginia; an uncle, James Howell of Portchester, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors and friends including his best friend, Rodney “Rifraf” Gardner of Statesville.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at New Life Missionary Baptist Church, Troutman. Elder Christopher Daniels will officiate and Reverend Ivan Cowan, Pastor will eulogize. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Mary Adams Bailey, Bristol Road, Statesville, N. C., at other times.
