Willie L. Miller Obituary

Mr. Willie Lee Samuel Miller, was born on February 1, 1923 in Iredell County, was the son of the late Willie Miller and Lorena Hooper Miller. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Brain Center.


Mr. Miller attended Morningside School and was avid Barber and later worked at Statesville Chair Company as a night watchman, were he retired. After retirement Mr. Miller, continued Barbering part time and enjoyed spending time with family and friend and singing gospel with his family group known as the Millionaires.


Mr. Miller joined Jerusalem Holiness Church at an early age and was a deacon and Sunday school Superintendent, until the church merged. He then changed his membership to Holsey Memorial CME Church, where he was an active member. On July 4, 1943, he married Louise Tuner Miller who preceded him in death on March 1, 2008. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by daughters Vonnie Hilda Miller, Daisy Ann Holmes, Mary Gordie, Son in law, Robert Gordie Sr., brother, John Wesley Miller, Sister in law, Mary Turner Lackey, Brother in law, Ulysses Lackey Brother in law, Howard Turner.


Left to cherish the memory of his life are four children Mildred Scott, Willie Edward (Josephine) Miller, and Kenneth Miller, all of Statesville, NC, and Brenda (Willard) Parker of Harmony, NC, a special niece, Adell (Frank) White of Statesville, an adopted daughter, Mary Helen Moten of Statesville, NC; ten grandchildren, Barry (Sonya) Scott of Troutman NC, Gary Scott, Timothy Miller, Arrianne Scott, Nicole Miller, Robert Gordie, Jr., and Daniel Miller Sr., all of Statesville, NC, Antone Scott and Joe Scott Jr., both of Mooresville, NC and Denise (Todd) Gillespie of Harmony, NC, fifteen great grandchildren, seventeen great-great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Alieen Donaldson of Statesville, NC host of nieces, nephews, friends.
