II Timothy 4:7 Elder Yvonne Dalton Waddell was born on December 30, 1952 to the late Clarence and Estie Mae Dalton in Statesville, NC. God called His Angel home, at the age of 66, on July 13, 2019 following an extended illness. While living in Harmony, NC, Yvonne graduated from North Iredell High School where she met the late Elder Kenneth Antonio Waddell of Statesville, NC. They later married in June of 1973. Elder Waddell received her Cosmetology license from Carolina Beauty College, Salisbury, NC, in 1998. She later received her bachelor’s degree in Theology from Liberty University of Lynchburg, VA. During the course of her life, she was an employee of: Beauty Maids, Zimmerman’s, Clear Knit and Four Brothers service station. Yvonne joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hamptonville, NC at an early age. Later she joined Greater New Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, Statesville, NC, under the leadership of the late Pastor Sandy & Ora M. Schofield. While there, she served as a Deaconess and sang in the Gospel Corletts which later became the OMS Mass Choir. Later she became a member of Greater Christ Temple in Maiden, NC, under the leadership of Pastor Gregory M. Butler Sr., where she faithfully served over the children’s choir. Afterwards, she joined Deliverance Tabernacle of South Boston, VA, under the leadership of Apostle Carl D. Lykes, Sr. While under his leadership, she was a founding member of Christ Church of Deliverance (Christ Cathedral of Deliverance) located in Statesville, NC, where she served as an ordained minister. She also was over the Holy High Steppers for Christ and a member of the women’s ministry. In June of 2000, Yvonne became a member of Helps Ministries of Deliverance, Statesville NC, under the leadership of Overseer Sandra W. Forney. While there, she was ordained as an Elder on October 5, 2012. During her attendance at Helps, she served on the Board of Directors, the Director of Missionary Department and the Highly Energetic Leaders of Praise – step group. She also served as a teacher, preacher, service leader, kitchen worker, event planner, friend, spiritual mentor & mother to many – including the blind community. Elder Waddell continued to preach and teach the Word of God even during the decline of her health. It did not matter how many times she was in and out of the hospital, she still remained faithful to the kingdom. Psalms 23 and 2 Corinthians 12:6 were the two scriptures she stood on when it came to her healing. The love that she had for people was demonstrated through her actions. One of her sayings to many was “consult God about it”. If she didn't agree with something you said, she would just look at you, shake her head, and say “sure”. Out of the union to the late Elder Kenneth A. Waddell they had five children, which she leaves to cherish the memories of her life: Brian (Maria) Waddell of Statesville, NC; Elder Kimberly Palmer of Locke, NC; Minister Tracy Waddell of Troy, MI; Yasiah (Vidal) Hurtado of Richmond, VA; and Elder Toni Waddell of the home; eight grandchildren: Devin Waddell of Charlotte, NC; Kia’ Yvonne Palmer of Locke, NC, Jaron Waddell of Occoquan, VA, Vidal Jr. and Lilia Hurtado, both of the home, Mario Guilford of Wilkesboro, NC, Courtney Morrison and Thomas Saddler, both of Statesville, NC and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Maxine Colden of Queens, NY; four brothers: William (Beatrice) Dalton and Opah Reid Dalton both of Augusta, GA; George Dalton of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey and Gordon Dalton of Harmony, NC; four sisters-in-law; Dr. Virginia Lykes, Apostle Deborah Graham, Overseer Sandra Forney and Priscilla “Cella” (Simeon Jr.) Humes, all of Statesville, NC; two brothers-in-law, Theodore Waddell of Statesville and Jacob O’Garro of Jamacia, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, and adopted children and grandchildren, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, July 19, 2019, at 12:00 noon at Christ Cathedral of Deliverance. Apostle Carl D. Lykes is the Pastor, Dr. Tammy Frailey will officiate and Overseer Sandra Forney will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Elder Waddell will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 10:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
