Ron Lee Stewart “Ronnie the Roofer”, 71 years of Akron, went to heaven on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Akron General Medical Center. Ronnie was born on July 22, 1943 in Ravenna, Ohio. He was a life-long resident of Akron. A self employed roofing contractor, he was the proud owner of Ron the Roofer LLC since 1970. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Lodge No. 0517, Akron, Ohio. Ron had tremendous pride in his 1955 Chrysler C300 which boasted a Hemi motor. He won numerous awards and even snagged a “Best of Show” at Glenmoor Country Club on Sept. 19, 1999. He also spent the majority of the summer months from the end of April to the beginning of November, or however long he could stretch it out, at Cedar Point Marina. Ron was often spotted on either his 1957 Steel Clipper or on the 22 foot Mako. This is where he met the love of his life, Peggy Dunn, his loving companion for the past twenty-two years. From the moment they met, it was rare to see one without the other. In addition to Peggy he is survived by his brother, Allen Stewart of Akron; sister, Janice (Steve) Langdon of Rockford, Ill; son, Matthew Stewart of Copley; daughters, Julie Stewart of Akron and Susan (Michael) Hurrell of Bay Village. He is also survived by a host of life-long friends. His parents, Alfred and Freda (Stewart) preceded him in death. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. There is much gratitude to express to the entire medical staff on the 4th floor of Akron General Medical Center for their care and comfort during this difficult time.
