Dr. J. Stephen Torski

Dr. J. Stephen Torski, 60 Dr. J. Stephen Torski, 60 of Ashland passed away suddenly Tuesday evening, February 26, 2013 in his home. He was born on February 20, 1953 to John Phillip and Mary Ann (nee Marshall) Torski in Frankfurt, Germany. Steve graduated from Lexington High School, Class of 1971. Following graduation he went on to complete his Bachelor’s Degree of Chemistry with a minor in Biology from Northwestern University in 1975. Steve earned his doctorate of medicine in 1979 from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. He would marry the love of his life, the former Evelyn Schulthess on May 22, 1982. The couple would call Ashland home in 1990 after residing in Shelby for seven years prior. Steve was a member of St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church in Mansfield. Horses and the horseshow community brought a great deal of joy to his life. In keeping with Steve’s overwhelming generosity and willingness to always give back, he played an active role in the community. He was a staff member of Samaritan Hospital for many years, previously practicing medicine at Shelby Hospital. His greatest achievement in his life was his wife and children and their many accomplishments, making him a very proud husband and father. Steve leaves behind his wife of 30 years of marriage, Evelyn Torski of Ashland; one daughter, Megan Torski of Columbus; one son, Brian Torski (fiancé Julie Sharpe) of Dayton; his mother, Mary Ann Torski of Mansfield; two sisters, Julie (Doug) Litt of Mansfield and Diane (Nelson) Flinders of Columbus; three brothers, Greg (Stephanie) Torski of Boston, Massachusetts, Robert Torski of Cleveland, and Jim (Sharon) Torski of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John Phillip Torski; and one brother, David Torski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Mary of Snows Catholic Church, 1630 Ashland Road, Mansfield, OH 44905 with Father Nelson Beaver officiating. Interment will be private in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, March 1, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, 313 Center Street, Ashland, OH 44805. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church, 1630 Ashland Road, Mansfield, OH 44905.
