Fayonna Marie Rockenfelder, 98 Fayonna Marie Rockenfelder, 98, of Ashland passed away, Tuesday, July 04, 2017 in Brethren Care Village. She was born April 12, 1919 in Holmes County to the late Edward and Elva Nevade (nee Miller) Kinsey. Following her high school graduation, Fayonna went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree of Education from Ashland University. She married the love of her life, Earl “Rocky” C. Rockenfelder on August 30, 1942. Fayonna retired after more than 30 years from teaching. She taught at Savannah, Nova, and Mapleton school districts, but spent the majority of her teaching career at Montgomery Elementary in Ashland. Fayonna was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the American Red Cross, Samaritan Hospital, Kingwood Center, and the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Gary) Fulk of Chesterfield, Michigan and Patricia (Tommy) Grigsby of Houma, Louisiana; one son, Dan (Sharron) Rockenfelder of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Derek (Megan) Fulk, Erin (Mark) Johnston, Emily (Gregg) Wilson, and Seth Rockenfelder; and seven great grandchildren, Wesley Rockenfelder, Braden M. Fulk, Zachary Johnston, Mara Wilson, Paige Fulk, Neil Wilson, and Joseph Johnston. In addition to her parents, Fayonna is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Earl Rockenfelder who passed away, July 5, 1992 and one brother, Clyde Kinsey. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Namy officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 220 Sandusky Street, Ashland, Ohio, 44805 or Nashville United Methodist Church, 302 Millersburg Street, Nashville, Ohio 44661 or to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
