Hazel Cellar Obituary

Hazel M. Cellar, 95 Hazel Mary Stoneburner Frame Cellar, 95 of Nankin, Ohio passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 6:42 pm at Country View of Sunbury, Ohio. Her love for her family, feisty sense of humor, and enjoyment of life’s sweet things will always be remembered. She was born on September 26, 1921, in Salesville, Ohio, to David C. and Millie L. (Harper) Stoneburner. As a young girl, Hazel grew up on her family farm, accustomed to hard work and large Sunday extended family meals. She graduated from Old Washington High School, honored as the Salutatorian in 1938. In 1940, she was married to John C. Frame with whom she had two children: Curtis and Mary Ann. After his accidental death, she remarried to David F. Cellar and moved to Nankin, Ohio. There she raised their three children: Keith, Karen, and Eric. An excellent homemaker, Hazel made and gave away countless beautiful quilts, canned peaches with her children and grandchildren, and cared for a lovely garden. She will always be known for her red velvet cake, sugar cookies, and cinnamon rolls, which were often seen at Stoneburner Family Reunions, church bake sales, or school fundraisers. She not only nurtured her own as a mother and grandmother, but also served as an elementary school cook with Mapleton Schools and as a member of Nankin Community Church. Hazel’s life demonstrated hard work and a steady faith as circumstances made her strong, independent, and often times stubborn. Regardless of any difficulties, she exuded generosity with what she had, love for all members of her ever-growing family, and a gentle chuckle, often directed at the antics of her grandchildren. Hazel is survived by her three sons, Curtis (Darlene) Frame, Keith Cellar, and Eric (Laurie) Cellar; two daughters Mary Ann (Bill) Lloyd and Karen (Scott) Gerwig; and sister-in-law, Betty Stoneburner of Cambridge, Ohio. Hazel was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Zilpha Stephens, Thelma Paden, Eva Mae Warne, and Faye Roe; and by her brother, Clarence Stoneburner. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 11 at Nankin Community Church, Nankin, Ohio from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Salesville Church of Faith, Salesville, Ohio. Services will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jake Heskett of Nankin Community Church officiating. Burial service will follow at the Salesville Cemetery, Salesville, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Nankin Community Church, 795 OH-302, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
