Robert R. “Hoss” Lang, 70, of Nova, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his residence. He was born June 22, 1946 in Ashland, Ohio to the late George Rexford and Mary Jo (Linn) Lang and had been a resident of Ashland County all of his life. He was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1964. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a lifelong dairy and hog farmer and also raised chickens and peacocks and tried his hand at raising guinea birds. He also worked at Ohio Edison as a lineman for 16 years. He attended Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed raising poultry, gardening and reading his Bible. Robert was married to Linda L. (Lane) who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Lang of Nova; Jody (Stephen) Smith of Mississippi; Jacob Lang of Nova; Lori (Myke) Furhman of New Fairfield, Conn; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Sampson, Logan Burkhart, James Lang, Cammy Lang, Caitlyn Lang, Robert Smith, Diana Furhman; one great-granddaughter, Paige Sampson; one sister, Carol Denbow of Wooster; and three brothers, Jon (Wendy) Lang of Ashland; Joe (Wanda) Lang of Wooster and Gary (Linda) Lang of Polk. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Penny Lang on December 12, 1980, one sister Barbara Lang and one brother, Ron Lang. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April; 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bouquet officiating. Burial with full military honors, provided by the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard, will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday April 18, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
