Robert C. Stone, 82 Robert Clair Stone, 82, of Ashland, passed away Monday morning, September 18, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Ashland on June 21, 1935 and was the son of the late Ivan and Fannie (Witmer) Stone. He had been a resident of Ashland his entire life. He was a graduate of the Ashland High School class of 1953 and had attended the Ohio State University. He also served his country as a member of the United States Army stationed in Germany from 1957 to 1959. Bob was no stranger to work. He worked for the Mowry Construction Company as a Construction Supervisor in a career spanning 48 years. When he was done working construction during the day, he would come home and start working on his beef & grain farm until the late hours of the night. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church where he had served on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of Elks Lodge #1360 and the Rowsburg Lions Club. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, putting together puzzles, hunting, vacationing in the Smokey Mountains and spending winters in Florida, but spending time with his grandchildren was most important to him. On October 11, 1969 Bob was married to Sharon L. Boyer who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer S. (Scott) Davenport of Archer, FL; and Christopher M. (Ruthi) Stone of Ashland; five grandchildren, Ryder & Sawyer Davenport and Brayden, Kendyl & Wyatt Stone; his siblings, Louise Eliot of Naples, FL; Eleanor (Ed) Koerner of Dunnellon, FL; Nancy (John) Barnes of Ashland; Dan (Jill) Stone of Ashland and Marj (Bill) Hetzel of Semora, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Joan (Bob) Kincade of Wooster; Susie Sommer of Lake Helen. FL; Cinda (Bob) Ray of Bainbridge, Ohio and a brother-in-law, David (Joyce) Boyer of Prescott, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Craig Robert Stone on January 28, 1989, a sister, Mary Stoner and a brother-in-law, Richard Eliot. Friends may call today, Wednesday September 20, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church, 1140 Claremont Ave. Ashland, Ohio. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 in the Sanctuary of Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Priebe officiating. A Committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Trinity Methodist Cemetery, St. Rt. 89 and Co. Rd. 1302, where the Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Craig Robert Stone Scholarship Fund in care of the Christ United Methodist Church, 1140 Claremont Ave. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
