Ray Stevens Obituary

Raymond "Ray" E. Stevens age 89 of Kettering, went to live with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Lyda (Marcum) Stevens; his wife of 56 years, Vivian (Rose) Stevens; son Gary Stevens; sisters Kathleen Poynter (Carter); Joyce Broyles (Lee); brothers Carl Stevens (Mabel) and Russell Stevens. Ray is survived by his wife of 12 years, Linda Butler Stevens; daughter Diana Foster (Gary) of Dayton; son Terry Stevens (Carolyn) of Miamisburg; daughter Cheryl Roberts of Dayton; Brian Stevens of Miamisburg; step-daughter Julia Height (Marc) of Dayton; step-son Steven Butler (Stacey) of Sellersburg, Indiana; step-daughter Sharon Yeary of Dayton; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren,10 great-great-grandchildren, brother Charles "Bob" Stevens (Hazel) of Somerset, Kentucky and a special Sister-in-Law Artie Stevens of Eubank, Kentucky. Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After honorably leaving the military, Ray worked at Frigidaire before employment with NCR for over 30 years and eventually retiring from General Motors. A native of Somerset, Kentucky, Ray was an avid U.K Basketball fan and enjoyed supporting his favorite team. Ray also had a passion for gardening and the outdoors. Ray was a committed Christian who felt led to help establish the Moraine City First Church of God, after which, he went to East Park Church of God where he served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Ray then went to worship at Kettering First Church of God and finally at Huber Heights Church of God. The family will receive friends Wednesday November 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Conner & Koch Life Celebration Funeral Home, 92 W. Franklin St., Bellbrook (937-848-6651). Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 10th at 1:00 pm with Pastor William Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Bellbrook Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to Huber Heights Church of God or Hospice of Dayton.
