Obituary for Randolph Wilson

Randolph Wilson, 62, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015 surrounded by family. Randolph was born on December 19, 1952 in Buffalo, New York to Gonza Lee and Carmen Marie (Ortiz Wilson) Brady.

He attended Morgan State University where he was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies. Randolph went on to receive his Master of Arts in Public Administration and Master of City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University in 1976, before launching his 39-year career in housing and community development. In June, Randolph retired from his final post as Operations Officer of the Ohio Multifamily Hub of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Over the years, Randolph was a contributor to multiple city and regional planning publications and worked with many community organizations in an advisory and volunteer capacity including the United Way's Project Diversity and Neighborhood Development Vision Council, the Franklin County Department of Jobs and Family Services' Advisory Committee on Black Family Connections, the Athletic Association of South Columbus' Little League Baseball program, and the Stewart Traditional Elementary School PTA.

For the past 44 years, Randolph served in various capacities with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. At the time of his passing, he was an active member of Mu Iota chapter, Columbus.

Preceded in death by parents.

Survived by wife, Rebecca (Collins); children, Manuel, Miranda, and Gabriel; their mother, Joycelyn; stepchildren, Bryan, Bethany, and Kevin; granddaughters, Alexis and Lydia; brother, Charles (Ramona) Wilson; sisters, Carlotta (Odman) Moffatt and Claire (Melvin) Alston; cousin and close friend, Dewey Ortiz; nephews, Courtney, Cory, and Justin; and many loving cousins, friends, and colleagues.
