Obituary for Reginald Roland Burrell

Reginald R. Burrell, Sr., known as "Sgt", departed this life Monday, July 18, 2011 at his Pickerington residence. He was born in New York's Harlem Hospital to Edna and Douglas D. Burrell, Sr. During the Korean War (1950), Reggie entered the U.S. Army and stayed in active service for a total of 20 years. In New York, he attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church; however, in 2006, he relocated with his wife to Columbus, Ohio, where he attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with his family. He also enjoyed time with his adopted families, David and Bernice Williams, and William Sowell. Preceded in death by his wife Lillie E. "Robbie" Williams-Burrell, his father, mother, stepfather Clarence Campbell (better known as "Pop"), brother Douglas, and sister Joyce. Reggie leaves to celebrate his life sons, Reginald Jr. (Darla), Lamont, and Keith (Tamara); daughter Victoria; sister Edna Darden; grandchildren, Dashawn, Nyaisha, Travis, Dorrell, Tyrone (Sharon), Lamel, Samantha, Terrance, Tyson, Samara, and Demetrius; two great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Charlotte Burrell and Chloette Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, dear friends, and adopted Ohio families. Homegoing Celebration 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2011 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1775 W. Broad Street, where family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the start of service. Pastor G. Thomas Turner, officiating. Interment Arlington Field of Honor, Canal Winchester, Ohio.
