Obituary for Virginia Ruth Thompson

Virginia Ruth Thompson was born June 12, 1937 to Noah Cooper and Eva Hoover Cooper in Ashland, West Virginia. She received her formal education at Elkhorn High School and graduated in 1955. While there, she excelled in her academic studies and was a Majorette for the Elkhorn Marching Band. To many, Virginia is still affectionately known as "Sweetie" - a nickname she received as a child.

After relocating to Columbus, Ohio, Virginia accepted Christ as her Savior at the Good Samaritan Baptist Church. Sister Thompson later united with Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member who truly loved the Lord.

Virginia was employed with National City Bank (now PNC) where she served dutifully for twenty-two years before retiring in 2003. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, and watching crime shows.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the age of 80, Virginia was called home by our Lord and Savior. Her parents preceded her in death.

Left to cherish memories of Virginia are her four children (in order from oldest to youngest), Tona A. Thompson, Wendi L. Thompson, George A. (Tracy) Thompson, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Dwayne A. (Brenda) Thompson of Terrell, Texas; sister Hortense Hodge of Martinsville, Virginia; twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

She will forever be in our memories and will truly be missed, but not forgotten.
