Rosemary Keefe Obituary

Rosemary Irene Keefe, 100, of Dayton, OH, passed away September 21, 2017. She was born February 4, 1917 in Waterbury, CN, to Harry and Ella Keefe but grew up in New Jersey. Her parents and brother, John, preceded her in death. Rosemary graduated from St. Francis Hospital Nurses’ Training School (Hartford, CN) in 1939 where she was Treasurer for Theta Rho Kappa Sorority. She moved to Dayton in 1945 and worked as a surgical nurse for two Dayton ophthalmologists for 34 years. Rosemary babysat for the Coughnour family – Tom, Dan, John, and Candy – when they were small and remained close to all of them and their families for all these years. Rosemary was proud of her Irish heritage and a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds. She always had a smile or kind word to give and never met anyone she didn’t like. Rosemary is survived by two nieces, Susie (Mark) Pizzo of Tampa, FL, and Karen Nichols of San Mateo, CA; Special Friend and Caregiver, Lurene Foreman, and daughter, Lynda Ehret; the Coughnour family, and many friends and extended family. Charitable contributions can be made to JDRF-Dayton, 70 Birch Alley #240, Beavercreek, OH 45440. Memorial Services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Friendship Village Chapel by Chaplain David Snowdon.
