Dr. Julie J. Boudousquie (Whetsel, Gerdsen) died July 8th after a long and valiantly fought illness. Born November 13, 1936 on the campus of Springhill College to Louis J and Mary White Boudousquie, Julie was number 11 of 14 children. She took great pride to be a fourth generation Jesuit Professor; teaching finance at Xavier University as well as the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University. Upon retiring from teaching, she put her financial skills to good use selling commercial real estate when she wasn’t dazzling friends and family with unmatched culinary skill, most notably her gumbo and black bottom pies. Outside of family, Julie’s greatest passion was her work with the Covington Rotary. Julie was elected their first woman Club President (94-95). She was the Club meeting programmer chair for 25 years (perfect attendance). She was elected District Governor for Eastern Kentucky (2003-4) and traveled the world with various Rotary events (including one memorable trip to Copenhagen with her fellow Rotarian and lifelong friend Marja Barrett). Julie was preceded in death by son Robert L. Whetsel and grandson Evan M Korte and is survived by siblings Alida Rodriguez, Margaret Jacobson, Anne Harrell, and Edward Boudousquie, son Dennis W Whetsel, daughter Marian R Korte, grandchildren, Aaron (Valarie), Julie, David, Graham and Brenna Korte, great-granddaughter Emery Rose and son in law John D Korte Special thanks to the staff at Madonna Manor (Villa Hills, KY) for the loving care and friendship extended to her as well as to her children. They were a great source of comfort, amplified during the isolation brought on by COVID.
