Francis Joseph Tornes, 86, of Marietta, Ohio, died on Monday, November 30, 2020. He was born on March 14, 1934 in Marietta, Ohio, to Harold Henry and Mary Evelyn Klinger Tornes. Frank was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School and served his country in the US Army. He worked for Cresent Supply Company as a truck driver and as a metal tradesman at Dravo Corporation. Frank was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption and Marietta Moose Lodge. He married Nancy L. Nichols on May 7, 1960. She died on May 9, 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Martin (Dennis); grandchildren, Amanda Parsons (Brad) and Andrew Martin; two brothers Robert Tornes (Janet) and James Tornes (Barbara); three sisters, Dorothy Atkinson (Steve), Anna Ullman (Jerry) and Patricia Ogle; brother in law, Robert Pettit; and sister in law, Jean Tornes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Joseph Tornes; and two sisters, Bernadette Pettit and Edna Deckhut. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. Number of people will be limited at one time in the funeral home.
