George McCormick

Mr. George W. McCormick, 73 of Painesville passed away August 24, 2012 at his home. He was born September 6, 1938 in Lonaconing, Maryland to the late George and Lena (Harvey) McCormick. Mr. McCormick was an avid coin collector. He also enjoyed playing all types of lottery games. He had been a member of the American Legion Post in Barton, Maryland. Mr. McCormick retired from Lintern Corporation in Mentor, Ohio. Mr. McCormick served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962. He is survived by his son Randall (Jennifer) of Frostburg, Maryland; his daughter Connie (Phil) Sarver of Hagerstown, Maryland; grandchildren Tristan Sarver, and Nathan and Mary Jane McCormick. He also leaves his sisters Naomi (Cole) Gmitra of Painesville, Sondra Lawrence of Painesville, Cathy (Frank) Shank of Concord, Lena (Chris) Morgan of Ashtabula; brothers Kenneth (Charlotte) of Keyser, West Virginia and William (Cindy) of Lorain as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Paul McCormick. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Rev. Gerald D. Kalb of Painesville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Mentor Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 69 Pearl Street, Painesville, Ohio 44077 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd. Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
