Obituary for Daniel Dionyssiou

Daniel Dionyssiou, age 63, died tragically in a motor vehicle accident, leaving behind so many people that loved and adored him. Anyone that knew Dan, knew what an amazing man he was. “The Fasha”, “Danny D”, “Papou”, “Dan the Man”, however you knew him, whatever you called him…he was there for everyone. There are so many words to describe him, loving, caring, generous, devoted, funny, hard-working, he was truly one of a kind.

He attended the University of Toledo where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. The owner of the Alexis Road Rudy’s Hot Dog, Dan was proud to carry on his family tradition and was dedicated to his customers and employees. He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where in his youth was a member of GOYA and Sons of Pericles. He loved cooking for the annual Greek festival and St. Basil Vasilopita luncheon.

Driving around in his Orange Jeep, top down, music blasting, the wind in his hair, was his favorite pastime. I’m sure you’ve seen him, #1 Philadelphia Flyers fan, avid racetrack goer, casino lover, jokester, and “Roll Tide Roll” supporter. Dan loved his music, those who knew him appreciated his eclectic taste. A free spirit, Dan travelled near and far to enjoy his favorite bands and sports teams. He loved spending time outdoors at the lake and in Florida. There are numerous memories of floating and diving with his father in the ocean and having fun at the lake. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and they all adored him. He was a mentor and protector of his sister, a devoted uncle and son.

Dan was preceded in death by his loving son, Andreas Dionyssiou. He is survived by his daughter, Mara Lizcano (Randy); his grandchildren, Veronica, Charlotte, Francesca, Sebastian; parents, Andreas and Joan Dionyssiou; sister, Paula Dionyssiou; niece, Andrea Fries (Mullen) and nephews, Anthony (Godson) and Michael Mullen.
