Della (Hill) Delffs) Jaquillard passed away to be with the Lord on March 29, 2008, surrounded in her home, by her loving family. Della succumbed to cancer after a very courageous battle. She was born January 12, 1928, in Alabama, to John and Dimmie Hill. Della worked as a home health aid and retired in 1995. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed camping with her family, quilting, crafting, gardening, working word puzzles and reading. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. After the death of her husband in 1960, Della was a young widow left with 6 children to raise. Through difficult times, Della managed to keep her family together. She considered this her greatest accomplishment. As adults, her children realized what an accomplishment it was and what sacrifices she made to keep her family together. For this, her children will be eternally grateful. Words cannot express their love for their mother. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Henry (Mary Anne) Delffs; daughters, Tiny Loe, Judy (James) Avery, Newtie (Ray) Frost and Diana Hennessy-Delffs; step-daughter, Nina Nicholson; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Coffman and her dog and companion of 10 years, Buckeye. Della was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Dimmie Roemelen and Mechelle Jaquillard; husband, Newton Delffs and 14 siblings. Family and friends are invited to visit from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, from the funeral home, followed by the Funeral Mass at 1 p.m., in St. Clement Catholic Church. Father David Beck will officiate. Interment will be in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Lisa and Marilyn. "I'd walk a million miles for one of your smiles."
