Donald William Bickford, 81, of Toledo, passed away at home on Friday, April 1, 2011. He was born December 26, 1929, in Genoa, OH, to Arid and Marie Bickford. He served honorably in the U.S. army during the Korean War. He worked for 35 years, in the Financial Department of Sun Oil Co., then for 15 years at Werkman's Ace Hardware. He was a dedicated supporter of University of Toledo Basketball teams and a member of the Igniters Fan Club for many years. Don was an elder and active member of Christian Fellowship, on Pilliod Road, Holland, OH. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret “Peg” (Kuhl) Bickford; sisters, Carol (Clyde) Nix of Alabama and Pauline (Keith) Ickes of Bradner, OH; brother-in-law, Terry (Sue) Kuhl of Michigan and many nieces, nephews, and countless loved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert. Friends are invited to visit from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 4th, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5th. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmaus Bible College, 2570 Asbury Road, Dubuque, Iowa, 52001. A memorial service will also be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at 5 p.m., at the Christian Fellowship, 6711 Pilliod Road, Holland, OH.
