Obituary for Elizabeth M. Arvay

Arvay Elizabeth “Betty” Elizabeth “Betty” Arvay left us on July 24, 2011 to be with our Lord. She was born on December 7, 1920 to Anna and Stephen Vegh. Betty was married to Edward “Lindy” Arvay on October 24, 1945. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church for 70 years, the Alter Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid bowler and proud of her 576 series. She worked downtown at Tiedke's for 21 years and at Riverside Hospital for 14 years. She enjoyed playing Pinochle at the West Toledo Senior Center and taking part in the exercise classes. Betty loved visiting and laughing with her wonderful neighbors. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Scrabble with her grandkids and their friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Lindy” Arvay sisters Margaret Vegh, Matilda Vegh and Helen David; brothers Fritz Vegh and Steve Rohaly; granddaughter Julie Coveney. She will be missed by her sister, Anna (George) Keller; daughters Liz (George) Torda, Kris Coveney, Cathy McQueary; grandchildren Curt McQueary, Stephanie (Mark) Martinez, Mary (Steve) Stoll; great-granddaughter Tatum and 7 nephews and their families. Her family wishes to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio at Perrysburg for their wonderful care. Friends are invited to visit from 2:00-9:00PM on Sunday July 31, 2011 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Ave. where prayers will begin on Monday at 10:30AM. The Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11:00AM Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Rev. P. Martin Donnelly Officiant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
