Obituary for Frank Joseph Mikac

MIKAC
Frank Joseph

Frank Joseph Mikac, 89, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Goerlich Center, on June 28, 2015. The youngest of 5 children, Frank was born in Newton Falls, Ohio on July 8, 1925 and graduated from Medina High School where he excelled in baseball, basketball, and football. After High School he enlisted in the US Navy during World War II and supported troops throughout the world and at the battle of Iwo Jima. He joined the Chevrolet Division of General Motors in 1950, and transferred to Toledo in 1956, as a Production General Foreman. Frank retired from Chevrolet in 1979, as the Assistant Superintendent of Production and Material Control. In retirement Frank, a long time boater and fisherman, was a member of Bay View Yacht Club where he enjoyed many days on Lake Erie, hunting for Walleye and Perch.
Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who enjoyed so many things in life, especially playing cards with his family and friends at any occasion. He will be remembered for his ability to make the room light up with his smile, humor, and his sense of style. Always quick with a compliment to his loving wife he also showed this same thoughtful and sincere side to his friends and family. We will miss his presence but cherish and remember the joy he brought so many of us throughout the years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Mary Mikac (Toshie), daughters Kimberly A. Ball, Kathy (Burl) A. Steele, of Toledo and F. Timothy (Patti) Mikac of Upper Arlington Ohio; 8 lovely grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The Mikac family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Goerlich Alzheimer’s Care Clinic for their devotion to Frank for the past two years and the continued care for Mary.
