Harry W Clark, 94, born near Battle Creek, Michigan, in Leroy Township, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 10, 2008.? Harry was a career army man, with tours in Japan and Germany, retiring as a master sergeant after 22 1/2 years and then working for 10 years in Toledo at Allstate.? He spent a total of over 30 years in government service, starting out with the U.S. Forest Service in Wisconsin, where he met his future wife of nearly 61 years, Celia.? ? Harry was an avid fisherman - particularly for muskie in northern Wisconsin, a bowler, a reader, a pinochle player, and a storyteller.? In 2005 he became very active at the Eleanor Kahle Senior Center in exercise classes, playing pinochle - which he continued to play well into this year, and generally enjoying the company of other people.? He also enjoyed travelling, making several trips in his 80's, mostly on his own; visiting family from Tennessee (driving himself) to Washington, making 4 trips to the Netherlands (making his own flight plans on the internet), and travelling once to Alaska.? He was a delight to all - making new friends with his stories everywhere he went. ? He was preceded in death by his loving wife Celia and his brothers Herman and Gordon, and sister Annabelle. He is survived by brothers Glenn and Maynard, sister Clara, four sons - Norman (Peggy), Don (Lorraine), Ray, and Bob, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and two former daughter's-in-laws Anne and Judy. ? Harry was a member of Christ the King Church, where he was also an usher for many years.?? Visitation will be there (on Harvest Lane at Monroe St & Sylvania Ave) on Thursday, August 14th at 1:00 PM with a Mass following at 2:00.?
