Obituary for Joann Rose Hojnacki

Joann Rose Hojnacki passed away peacefully with her children at her side on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. Joann was born on January 27, 1933, in Toledo, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Connors) Kutchenriter. She attended Good Shepherd grade school and graduated from Waite High School, class of 1950. Joann married Thomas F. Hojnacki on July 7, 1956, in Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Joann worked for Lion Store and the Doehler Jarvis Company, becoming a full-time homemaker after the births of her children. She enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and especially enjoyed reading. She was interested in anything about Ireland, Joann was very proud of her Irish Heritage. She was a faithful follower of auto racing on TV. She was a member of St. Agnes Church for many years until its closing, and then joined St. Catherine of Siena Parish.

Joann is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas F.; her children, Thomas J. (Lorraine) Hojnacki, Northwood, Timothy (Julie) Hojnacki, and Catherine (Ron Breed)of Toledo; grandchildren, Nick (Melissa Doney) Breed, Andy (Erica Bilby) Breed, Daniel Hojnacki, Jennifer Hojnacki, and Rachael Hojnacki; great-grandson, Nate Breed; as well as her sister, Dorothy Boros; special nephew, John Gapski and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Leatrice Links, and brothers, Thomas and Joseph Kutchenriter.The family would like to thank the staff at Ebeid Hospice and Oakleaf Village for their care and compassion through this difficult time.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4555 North Haven Avenue. Visitation will be on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Toledo Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, tributes can be a donation to St. Catherine of Siena Parish or donation to charity of donor's choice.
