Konstantine Petros, Jr. “Deno”, 69, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2018. He was born in Toledo on October 10, 1948 to Georgia and Konstantine Sr. who both preceded him.
Deno was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School class of 1966, where he wrestled and played football. He went on to graduate from The University of Toledo. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Corrections Officer at the Lucas County Sherriff’s department and was called “Connie” by his co-workers who thought very highly of him. He enjoyed history, astronomy, politics, and had a Black Belt in Karate. Deno was a longtime active member at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was a member of AHEPA. He was very proud of and cherished his Greek heritage. He was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams being the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings, and The University of Toledo Rockets. He enjoyed watching sporting events and went to countless games and matches of his beloved nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, Deno enjoyed traveling extensively and visited numerous countries throughout the world. He was beyond generous to his family and spoiled his nieces and nephews whenever he had the chance. He will be remembered as a kind, funny, big hearted gentleman who devoted his entire life to his family.
He is survived by his siblings, Kathy (Dennis) Lawrence, Evangeline Biggs, Faye (Nino) Miracola, Christina Bertok, Sam Petros; nieces and nephews, Brad (Carrie) Lawrence, Nick Lawrence, Holly, John, Chris and Stephanie Biggs, Anthony (Jennifer) Miracola, Danielle Miracola, Alec Bertok, Nicole and Mike Petros; 8 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Demetra Petros, and brother-in-law Ken Bertok.
Friends are invited to visit on Thursday January 25, 2018 from 2:00-8:00pm in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. where Trisagion Prayers will begin at 7:00pm. Funeral services will begin on Friday at 11:00am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 N. Superior St. Rev. Larry Legakis Officiant. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
