Obituary for Margaret M. Feeney

Margaret M. Feeney, 94, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born January 1, 1922, in Toledo, to Will and Ina Ragsdale, who preceded her in death.

Margaret attended Whittier Elementary School and was a proud 1939 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. Following graduation, she worked for Willy’s Overland, as a secretary, until her marriage. In 1944 she married the love of her life, Edward Feeney, at the Victory Chapel in Indian Town Gap, PA. After her children were raised, she worked as a supervisor for Traveler’s Insurance, retiring in 1987.

Margaret was a wonderful seamstress, crafter and baker of cookies. She loved to travel taking trips to California to visit relatives. She also traveled to Germany with the Teutonia Mennerchor to sing with other German groups. Margaret was active in the Turners where she made many wonderful friends and sang with the Tuetonia Damenchor. She volunteered at the German-American Festival in any way she was needed. Margaret was a longtime member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, where she was very active in parish and school activities throughout the many years her children attended school there.

In the past few years her deteriorating health kept her closer to home, but she was always up for going out to lunch or a shopping trip, and enjoyed visits from family and friends. Margaret had a wonderful sense of humor and lived life to the fullest.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sue Lindsey, Molly Feeney, Laurie (Joe) Weiher and Kevin (Robin) Feeney; grandchildren, Christopher (Karly) Lindsey, Emily (Danny Bazan) Lindsey, Michael Weiher, Casey (Stephanie) Weiher and Megan (Pete) Zapadka and great-grandchildren, Ty Zapadka, Quin Zapadka, Faith Lindsey, Sofia Lindsey and one on the way. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Nancy Ragsdale, special neighbors, Jeff and Theresa, many nieces, nephews and special friends. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Feeney; son-in-law, Kemp Lindsey; brother, Ralph Ragsdale and sisters, Luzetta Friend and Katherine Welte.

Friends are invited to visit on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m., at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, (2240 Castlewood Drive at Bellevue Road). Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg, OH, 43551 or the Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
