Obituary for Marie T O'Shea

Marie T. O’Shea was born to Mary (Karmol) Stark and Louis Henry Stark on February 7, 1930 and is now reunited them, with her husband John J. O’Shea and her brother Louis J. Stark. She is survived by her children, Maureen (Ted) Davis, Thomas (Jean) O’Shea, Catherine (Tom) Minard, David O’Shea, Matt (Dawn) O’Shea, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister in laws Ellen Stark, Marion O’Shea and brother in law Jerry Moore, and many nieces and nephews!

Through her life Marie was a giving soul, a loving and forgiving woman. She took every opportunity to enjoy family and friends and gave us all an example for how to treat others. She also took the time to do what she loved and was always eager to share what she learned. Born in Toledo, Ohio raised on a farm in Erie Michigan she always loved gardening. She graduated from Mary Manse College with Bachelors in Social Work and Music and supported higher education for her children and grandchildren

She loved music from a young age, and enjoyed the Symphony, Opera, Music Under the Stars and variety shows. She played piano and was a lovely vocalist. She sang with the Toledo Opera Chorus (24 yrs.), the Central Catholic Alumni Glee Club, church choruses at St. Agnes, St. Catherine’s of Siena and St. Joseph in Erie, Michigan.

Assisting and supporting many different groups and causes in Northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan were a joy for Marie. She actively supported her church, Mary Manse College, Central Catholic HS, Unbound, Heartbeat, AA, Alanon, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary (West Toledo Council 3122), and more. Her talents shined as a teacher, an employee of Lucas Products, Inc., a Scout leader, and recently helping to care for many of her elderly friends including Holy Communion distribution. And Mom love nature/God’s creation, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Another great Mom has just left this earth to take her place among the Angels. Our loss but heavens gain.

Everyone was always in awe of how much love could come in such a small package, as our Dad fondly called her his “mighty might”. She was a powerful, kind, force of nature. We know she is welcomed into God's arms, escorted by our dad. We love you Mom and we miss you.

Thank you to the staff at The Lakes of Monclova and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care, compassion and skills. They helped make the last month easier for mom and all of her family.
