Obituary for Orlean L. Nelson

?????????? Orlean L. Nelson, "Slim", 90, passed away on Thursday March 1, 2007 in Traditions Care Center. He was born on May 22, 1916 in Racine WI. to Peter and Nellie Nelson. During his younger years, Slim worked on the Westcoat Freighter which sailed on the Great Lakes. Throughout his working career, he was employed by several different companies including, The George Sheck Funeral Home in Lelanu Co. MI. the George Drew Construction Co. where he assisted in the building of the bridge that crossed the Lelanu Narrows, the Pure Oil Co., Shortway Bus Lines, and the Standard Oil Co.(Sohio) where he retired from in 1978. After his retirement, he enjoyed delivering cars for George Ballas Buick. He was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Lotus Lodge, Zenobia Shrine, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret Nelson; sisters, May (Rich) Purvis and Jane Witkop; brother Herbert (Marti) Nelson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother in law Hirum Witkop.?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????? ?Friends are invited to visit after 11:00AM on Monday March 5, 2007 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. where funeral services will follow beginning at 1:30PM. Interment will be private in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
