Obituary for Patricia Helen Mellon

Patricia Helen Mellon, 89, entered Eternal Life on Saturday, June 11,2016, surrounded by her family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born on September 29,1926, to Russell and Gladys Hartsing, in Toledo, Ohio. Her father died when Patricia was 15 years old and she moved back and forth from Toledo to Perrysburg to Port Clinton where she graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1944. She went on to Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo graduating as a registered nurse in 1947. She worked at Mercy Hospital and later at the office of Doctors Kappus, Pigott and Miller. She married the love of her life, William Mellon, on April 3,1948, at Sacred Heart Church. She and Bill lived on the East side until Bill built their first home in Temperance, Michigan. There they raised 5 of their 6 children surrounded by nature and a simple life. In 1963 the family moved to their Stannard Drive home and welcomed their last child to the family.

Pat's deepest love was her family, her faith, her church and her Elder-Beerman. She so enjoyed family gatherings especially at Christmas. It was the place where she lived her faith teaching us to be hospitable and to love one another as family. She also found time to volunteer at Christ the King and joined the Bibles Studies and Lunch Bunch. She and Bill enjoyed travelling to places that widened their perspective about life. After Bill died 20 years ago she bravely chose to live her life carrying the burden of Lewy Body Dementia for the past 9 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Andrea), Sue (Tom Marciniak), John (Karen), Chris (Zenny), Joel (Radha), Rob (Rona); 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, In-laws, Jim and Carol Mellon and Pat Lemke.
