Obituary for Paul M. Doran

Paul M. Doran, 60, of Toledo, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He was born in Flint, Michigan on Sunday, May 20, 1956, the oldest of six children of George and Peggy Doran (Myal). After growing up in Montrose, he served in the United States Air Force and settled in Toledo upon his honorable discharge from the military. He became a graduate of Owens Community College and served a long career as a registered nurse at St. Charles, first in the intensive care unit, and then the emergency room.

Paul was a long-term member of the Toledo Rose Society and had several appearances on local news networks to talk about his passion for flowers and gardening. During the Christmas season, he would decorate a room at the Manor House at Wildwood Metro Park, as well as the St. Charles emergency room. He would often make floral arrangements and other decorations for weddings, parties, and other elaborate effects for special occasions. He spent countless hours gardening and developing a garden of tranquility for his family and friends to enjoy. Whenever he was not outside in his garden or out with his friends, he would find solace in the acrylic and oil paintings that are adored by all of his guests.

Paul is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Jonathan; his grandson Cain and unborn granddaughter, his brothers, Dale, Andy, Harold, and Michael, and his sister, Barbara. His memory will live on with his family and with all those who loved him.

Friends may visit on Monday, from 2-6p.m., in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, (between Secor and Douglas Roads), where the Lucas County Veterans Burial Corps will conduct services at 6 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life.
