Ronald J. Robertson, age 71, died at home on Monday February 26 after a lengthy battle with cancer.? He was born in Chisholm, MN to Wayne and? Mildred (Casey) Robertson on August 27, 1935.? Having grown up in MN, he maintained his loyalty to the Vikings throughout his lifetime.? After serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, he moved to? Toledo where he worked at various jobs, including Dura, Chase Bag, and the U.S. Post Office. In 1961, he joined the Toledo Fire Department.? He worked out of several stations, as well as the alarm office, achieved the rank of lieutenant, and retired in 1989.? He was also a member of? American Legion Post #576. ??? Following his retirement, Ron was able to pursue his long standing hobby, golf, highlighted with an annual, month long Florida golf trip. He worked for many years as a Marshall for the scheduled outings at Whiteford Valley Golf Course, where he was a member for over 20 years.? It was at Whiteford Valley where he met and cultivated many close friendships, in addition to those carried over from his years as a firefighter, and many other "old" and dear friends.? Ron will long be remembered for his diligent keeping of his journal, recording daily activities and events for the past 15 years.? In doing this, he has been a source of reference to many of us.? Words cannot express how much the calls, visits, flowers, and cards from all his many friends helped he and his family throughout his long illness. ??? Preceding Ron in death were his parents, his daughter, Roxanne; and his sister, Roberta Brinkman.? He leaves behind to mourn his absence, his "bride" of 30 years, Marge; daughter, Julie (Denis) Bembenek; son, Richard (Tamara) Robertson; stepchildren, Diane, Pat, and Tim McCarthy; grandchildren, Kristie Whetsel, Michael, Brian and Matthew Bembenek; Rayce, Riley, and Jenna Robertson, Kayla and Kimberly McCarthy, and Lindsay Labiak. ??? 8:00pm Thursday with the Fire Dept. Last Alarm at 7:00pm.? A prayer service will be held at 12:00pm Friday in the funeral home where friends are invited to gather after 10:00am.?
