Obituary for Rose Marie Darrow

Rose Marion (Abdo)
5/29/1928--1/26/2016

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many, passed away Tuesday, January 26, surrounded by her loving family at Aspen Grove. Her beautiful smile could only be outshone by her warm generous heart and spunky personality. Rose never stopped showing all her children that Family was the most important thing in her life, she always enjoyed hearing what the grandkids were doing and supporting their accomplishments. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends with a charming sense of humor. Her passion was cooking and baking excellent dinners and desserts for many wonderful occasions. She loved her dogs, Brandy and Maddie, gardening, golf and especially bowling for over 50 years. Rose was a member of Ottawa River Yacht Club, where she was President of the Women’s Auxiliary and enjoyed boating and travelling with family and friends. An active member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral for many years, she enjoyed making grape leaves, Lebanese food and working at the yearly church dinners and festivals. Rose married Alvin E. Darrow on July 12, 1947, enjoying the life they built together for 65 years until his death in 2012. Working at Darrow’s Wheel Alignment for 30 years together just enhanced their marriage.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Ronald Abdo; children, Cheri (Dave) Bonk, Sue (Dan) Omlor, Ron (Rita) Darrow, Al “Hopper” Darrow Jr., Robbi (Angela) Darrow. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, Jason (Arin) Bonk, Mark Bonk, Danny (Yuki) Omlor, Jennifer (Craig) Strayer, Ron (Candi) Darrow Jr., Stacey Gerken, Marchone (Joel) Sanchez, Jeremy (Tennille) Darrow, Tim Darrow, Samantha Mason and Hanna Darrow; 19 great grandchildren and 1 “angel” expected in April and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and George Abdo; brother, Louie and sister, Pat.

The family is forever grateful to the special “angels”, Marianne at ProMedica Hospice and the nurses, aides and staff at Aspen Grove for their dedicated care and love for “Rosey-Posey”!
