Obituary for Vivian D. Meyer

????????????????????????????????????????????????? Vivian D. Meyer, 85, of Toledo, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007, in Arbors of Sylvania. She was born at home, in the Bronx, NY, on March 23, 1922, to Ralph and Florence (Scales) Graham. She graduated from Walton High School and Katherine Gibbs School, in New York City. Vivian was employed as a secretary and administrative assistant in New York City, retiring from the Institute of Cancer Research at Columbia University, in 1981. She was active at St. James Church, Fordham, in New York City and served there in various positions. She also volunteered for various organizations in which her children were involved in. Vivian met her husband, Eugene F, Meyer, at St. James Church when she was 8 years old, and married him in Denver, CO, on May 8, 1944. She moved to Toledo in 1991, along with her husband and daughter, to join her son and family. Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Eugene F. Meyer; her daughter, Gene V. Meyer; her son, William G. (Jan) Meyer; her grandchildren, Meghan K. (Michael) Kugel, Patrick G., Kevin E. and Kathryn M. Meyer and her brother, Douglas B. (June) Graham, of Alturas, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents. Vivian was a witty, bright and outgoing person, who chatted with everyone she met and made lasting impressions to all. Vivian is deeply missed by her family, to whom she lovingly dedicated her life. Her family is deeply grateful to Barbara Middleton and her staff at Arbors of Sylvania, for giving Vivian and her family such special attention, in her final illness. Friends are invited to visit from 2-8 p.m. Monday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, (between Douglas and Secor Roads). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2770 West Central Avenue. Father Lynn C. McCallum will officiate. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
