Alberta M. Collins

Memorial services for Alberta M. (Albright) Collins, 91, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Kurt E. Landerholm will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mrs. Collins passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Kemper House in Mentor.

Born August 8, 1923 in Ashtabula, she has lived in Mentor for more than 70 years.

She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church where she sang in the chancel choir for more than 60 years. She was also a member of Mentor Women’s Club, Mentor Miscellany Club, and American Legion Post 352 Auxiliary in Mentor. She was a graduate of Wintersville High School class of 1941 and attended Kent State University where she met her husband, Bill. She enjoyed many years of relaxation and boating at Chautauqua Lake in New York.

Mrs. Collins was employed as a secretary at the former Mentor Radio Company, retiring in 1998. She previously worked at the former Center Street Elementary School and JC Penney’s at Great Lakes Mall, both in Mentor and volunteered at the former Lake East Hospital in Painesville.

Survivors are her daughters, Barbara (Christopher) Dunn of Middlefield and Beverly Collins of Mentor and grandson, Dean Galanis (fiancée, Emily) of Los Angeles, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William A. Collins on March 25, 2002 and her son, William A. “Bil” Collins on July 26, 2010. Her parents, Arthur and Florence (Goodrich) Albright are also deceased.

Private family interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
