Services for Anita R. (Mailer) Durst, 92, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 37728 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby. The Rev. Adam L. Sorenson of Trinity Lutheran Church and Rev. Robert D. Schuler, retired pastor, will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Monday at the Church, prior to the service.

Mrs. Durst passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her home.

Born September 22, 1925 in Cleveland she was raised in Kirtland and has lived in Mentor for the past 70 years.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Willoughby where she was involved with the cradle roll, comfort pillows and sunshine ministries. She was also a proud graduate of the Andrews School in Willoughby, where she has remained involved with alumni activities, including the Alumni Board, the Beta Chapter and Friends of the Library. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband at Painesville Township Park and was an avid mall walker at Great Lakes Mall.

Mrs. Durst was a homemaker, bank secretary, church secretary and was the office manager of her husband’s business.

Survivors are her daughters, Susan Durst and Chris (Tim) Walsh, both of Mentor; granddaughter, Kristen (Tom) Mentzer of Arlington, VA; sister, Claire Sonewald of Kirtland and sister-in-law, Alice Durst of Kirtland.
She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond E. Durst on January 22, 2009. Her parents, William and Rosina (Fischer) Mailer and her brother, Granville Mailer, who died serving his country during World War II, are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in South Kirtland Cemetery following the service on Monday.
