Services for Bernice M. (Fairbanks) Martin, 94, of Lakeline Village, will be 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Mrs. Martin passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Altercare of Mentor in Concord Township. Born October 10, 1917 in Coolville, OH she was a longtime Willoughby resident before moving to Lakeline Village. She had also lived several years in Port Richey and Clearwater, Florida. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Willoughby. She graduated from Mentor High School, class of 1935 and was a member of the first graduating class from the former Euclid-Glenville School of Nursing. Mrs. Martin was a licensed practical nurse at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby and also an office nurse for the late Dr. Jorge Medina in Wickliffe. She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Charles) Barton of Halworth, NJ and sons, Harold A. (Alexa) Fairbanks of Garland, TX and Donald L. (Thelma) Fairbanks of Lakeline Village; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her first husband, Everett L. Fairbanks, passed away in 1986 after 50 years of marriage; she later married Charles R. Martin, who passed away in 1991. Her infant daughters, Carol Ann and Kay Louise Fairbanks, parents, Harve and Catherine (Rafter) Callaway, sister, Bessie Sears, brothers, Harry and Gerald Callaway and half-brother, Wilbur "Buck" Snyder are also deceased. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 12 Noon on Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bob Bowen of the First Christian Church of Willoughby will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
