Memorial services for Christopher DeMatteo, 32, of Willowick, will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Christopher passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his home.
He was born March 19, 1981 in Youngstown. He was a 1999 graduate of Mentor High School and had attended Lakeland Community College.
He served in the United States Marine Corp for five years, honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He was an all around sports fan and loved his dog.
Christopher was employed by the Department of Defense in Cleveland, assisting veterans to receive benefits that they were entitled to.
Survivors are his mother, Angiolina (Sferra) (Bob) Pritschau of Mentor-on-the-Lake; father, Ronald DeMatteo (Patti Stansbury) of Eastlake; sister, Cynthia DeMatteo of Denver, CO and brother, Kevin DeMatteo of Willowick. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and their families, and his dog.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Giulia and Salvatore Sferra and paternal grandparents, Josephine and John DeMatteo.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service. The Rev. Larry A. Pozza of Erieside Church on the Boulevard will officiate at the service.
