Constance V. Hanley Obituary

Memorial service for Constance Varney Hanley, 90, of Willoughby, will be at 3 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at The Lyons Chapel at the Nason Center of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, 36859 Ridge Road, Willoughby. The Rev. Kurt Walker, Chaplain of Breckenridge Village, will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM on Saturday, prior to the service, at The Lyons Chapel.

Mrs. Hanley passed away Monday, January 16, 2017.

Born October 28, 1926 in Rochester, NH, she lived in many places in the United States, including Chardon.

Mrs. Hanley moved to Breckenridge Village ten years ago.

She was active at Breckenridge Village, serving on many committees and earning the one thousand volunteer hours award. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Shaker Heights Chapter; Mentor United Methodist Church; and Blossom Friends of the Cleveland Orchestra. She was a graduate of Houghton College in Houghton, New York, class of 1948.

Mrs. Hanley was a music teacher and started a pre-school in Northampton, MA. She also conducted a men’s chorus at Fort Lewis, Washington and a community choir in Lehigh Acres, FL.

Survivors are her children, Deborah Hanley (Ada Jo Mann) of Silver Spring, MD; Jonathan (Linda) Hanley of Chestertown, MD and Susan (David) Wolfe of Chardon; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chaplain Frederick Hanley in 1996.

Final resting place will be in Arlington National Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
