Services for Edward A. Kickel, 85, of Willoughby, will be at 1PM on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Mr. Kickel passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 at his home. Born October 5, 1927 in Cleveland, he had lived in Willoughby for the past 55 years. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran and a member of Fellowship United Church Christ in Wickliffe. He was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, Class of 1945. Mr. Kickel was self-employed, having owned and operated Becker's Service Station in Willowick. He retired in 1984 after 32 years of service. Survivors are his sons, Edward S. (Aimee) Kickel and Keith A. (Angela Voland) Kickel of Willoughby; granddaughter, Lauren Kickel of Houston, TX; and sisters, Helen Dick, Mildred Telliard, Joan (Duane) Wahl, Carol (Howard) Tropp and Margaret (Michael) Zuccaro. His wife of 56 years, Joyce A. (Dear) Kickel, passed away August 1, 2007. His parents, Aloysius and Helen (Riedel); sister, Ruth Kickel; brothers-in-law, Carl Dick and Thomas Telliard are also deceased. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. David T. Durkit of Fellowship United Church of Christ will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to a favorite charity.
