Elizabeth Osmond Moshier Obituary

A celebration of the life of Elizabeth Osmond “Libby” Moshier, 99, of Willoughby, will be will be at 11 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2017 in The Lyons Chapel at the Nason Center of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, 36859 Ridge Road, Willoughby.

Mrs. Moshier passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Fairmount Health Center at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village.

Born August 15, 1917 and raised in Cleveland Heights, a daughter of Dr. John and Nellie (Pratt) Osmond, she was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and Denison University, class of 1939.

On September 28, 1940 she married Malcolm J. Moshier. They made Youngstown their home for two years until Malcolm entered the Coast Guard. She then returned to Cleveland awaiting his return from the war. In 1944 they settled in South Euclid where she made her home for seventeen years before moving to Pepper Pike in 1961.

Libby was an active volunteer and member of the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights and presently attended the Church of the Western Reserve in Pepper Pike. She was a past president of the boards of the former St. Luke’s Hospital and the Cleveland Health Museum.

She was also a past president of Denison University Women’s Alumni Association of Cleveland, and a member of the University’s Alumni Council. She received an alumni citation in 1989. She and her husband were among the very few alumni couples who both received this honor.

Libby was also on the board of her beloved sorority, Delta Delta Delta holding several offices. She worked at Hathaway Brown School in the 1970’s. She was most recently a resident of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village in Willoughby, having moved there with her husband in 1988.

She stayed active in countless ways, including the choir and bazaar. She was lifelong lover of music and an organist, playing for Denison University and several churches. Libby enjoyed golf as a member Mayfield Country Club, her grandchildren, traveling (all 50 states), reading and helping others.

Surviving are three sons; David (Lynne) of Akron, Jim of Sturgis, MI; and Philip (Barrie) of Pepper Pike; grandchildren, Tim (Debbie) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; John (Jennifer) of Westfield, NJ; Jeff (Nicole) of Akron, Sara (Jon) Clark of Big Rapids, MI; Anne (Jeremy) Howard of Kalamazoo, MI; Lauren (Eric) Bloom of Denver, CO; Mike (Ashleigh) of Denver, CO; Brad of Cleveland, and Peter of Cleveland, and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm, who died May 22, 2000, the result of a stroke suffered in 1998. Her parents, and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. John (Jean) Osmond, and daughter-in-law, R. Diane Hollingsworth Moshier are also deceased.

A Private family interment will take place in Acacia Park Cemetery.
