Memorial services for Frederick Thomas Chennell, 97, of Willoughby, will be 7 PM Friday, May 4, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby, where the family will receive friends from 6-7 PM. Mr. Chennell passed away Tues., May 1, 2012 at his home. Born May 14, 1914 in Chicago, his family moved to Cleveland in 1920. After enlisting in the United States Army and receiving his honorable discharge, he married Elizabeth Byron (deceased 1990) of Buffalo, New York. They purchased and cleared a field in Willoughby, where they built a home and raised their family. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Willoughby, and loved to help family members and work in his garden. He loved life and was devoted to those around him and his generosity and integrity will be remembered throughout the community. Mr. Chennell worked at various companies before founding Willoughby Asphalt Paving Company in 1968 with his son, Douglas (deceased 2002). Survivors are his son, Thomas P. Chennell of Willoughby and daughters, Katherine (husband, J.R.) Holland of Rock Creek and Wendy Carson of Willoughby and her daughters, Lisa Booher, Heather Carson and Christy Carson and great grandchildren, Marley, Dakota and Calla Booher. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families.
