Genevieve L. Reutter

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate the life of Genevieve L. (Armfelt) Reutter, 84, of Chardon Township.<br><br>Mrs. Reutter (Gen) passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at her son’s home in Willoughby Hills, surrounded by her family.<br><br>Born February 25, 1930 in Cleveland, she has lived in Lake and Geauga Counties for the past 64 years. <br><br>Gen was a January 1948 graduate of Collinwood High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Vernon A. Reutter, Jr., in Collinwood in March 1948. They built their own home in Willoughby Hills, moved in while building in 1950, began to raise their family, and enjoyed many family camping and fishing trips. After caring for her husband through his death in 1977, she began to volunteer for local hospice programs and obtained her Registered Nursing Degree. While she held many nursing positions, she enjoyed her work as a home care nurse the most. <br><br>Survivors are her children, Dr. Jeffrey (Veronica) Reutter of Westerville, OH, Barry (Judi) Reutter of Willoughby Hills, and Laura Hugenberg-Spey of Poland, OH; grandchildren, Gwynneth (Matt Hewitt) Reutter, Jacob (Jill) Reutter, Faith Reutter, Ben (Kara) Reutter, Caleb (Alicia) Reutter, Paul (Christine) Hugenberg, Christy (Andy) Cox, Bill (Michelle) Hugenberg, and Jenny (Jeff) Karzen; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Madeline Riscili of Westfield, NY, and sisters-in-law, Olive Armfelt, Nancy Armfelt and Carol (Earl) Price. She also loved all of her nieces and nephews and families. <br><br>She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern, her parents, Walter and Catherine (McBride) Armfelt, her in-laws, Vernon and Lucille (Helmke) Reutter, Sr., brothers, David Armfelt and Floyd Armfelt, brother-in-law, Frank Riscili, and son-in-law, Greg Spey. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Ohio Sea Grant/Stone Lab (payable to OSU), 1314 Kinnear Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43212, or we know she would be pleased if you took your family out for ice cream.<br><br>Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, Willoughby, is honored to serve the Reutter family. <br>
