Harold Stich

Services for Harold C. Stich, 88, of Mentor, will be at 10 AM Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Shoregate United Methodist Church, 30500 Bayridge Boulevard, Willowick. The Rev. Dr. William C. Liming, Jr. will officiate at the service. Mr. Stich passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Born September 2, 1924 in Cleveland, he was a resident of Willowick since 1960, moving to Mentor 1 ½ years ago. He was a World War II United States Army Veteran and a member of Acacia Lodge 651 Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of Shoregate United Methodist Church in Willowick, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially being a "great" grandfather to his granddaughters and their families. Mr. Stich was employed as a foreman at the former White Motors Corporation, truck plant in Cleveland. He retired in 1975 after 33 years of service. After retirement, he became the neighborhood handyman, tackling home repairs for friends and family. Survivors are his children, Catherine (Dr. Denis) Rubal of Chardon and Kenneth (Kathy) Stich of Coppell, TX; granddaughters, Deborah (Mark) Nicholls, Patricia (Rajat) Taneja, Margaret (Shawn) Beatty, Amanda (Matthew) Overton and Melissa (Elijah) Gould; great grandchildren, Luke and Caleb Nicholls, Aidan and Sam Taneja and Ella and Max Beatty; sisters, Marian Hill of Wooster and Norma Johnson of Lehigh, FL and brother, Richard Stich of Sarasota, FL. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families. His wife of 28 years, Dorothy passed away October 1, 1977. His parents, Herman and Catherine Stich; sisters, Dorothy Slage, Ruth Winderl and Thelma Balluh and brothers, Howard, Robert, Raymond and Russell Stich and longtime companion, Myra Thornburg are also deceased. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Monday, November 19, 2012 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Brethren of Acacia Lodge 651 will conduct Masonic services Monday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Mayfield Heights. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Shoregate United Methodist Church, 30500 Bayridge Boulevard, Willowick, OH 44095.
