Mrs. Bryan passed away February 8, 2013 at Hillcrest Hospital with family at her side.

Born November 8, 1933, in Willoughby, Helen and her husband, Clyde had resided in Chesterland for many years, before retiring to Elizabethtown, NC in the late 1990’s, where she enjoyed family, friends, traveling and the beautiful North Carolina sunsets over their scenic lake view home. She was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Lumberton, North Carolina.

Helen will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who always placed others before herself. Above all else, Helen cherished her family, including her children Laura (Bruce) Singer of Willowick, and Cheryl (Fred) Stewart of Whiteville, NC; her grandsons Andrew and Matthew Singer; sister, Ethel Gaines of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, Ernest Wilson Bryan of Bladenboro, NC; and sister-in-law, Margaret Deming of Willoughby, as well as her “surrogate” son and friend, Dale McVey. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Emma Jean McKoy, Helen’s devoted caregiver, friend and companion who gave her comfort, strength and laughter while she bravely fought her illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clyde P. Bryan on January 28, 2010; her parents, Charles A and Luella (Martin) Deming and her brother, Glenn Deming

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club, Attn: William Thompson, Treasurer, P.O. Box 3155, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
