Henry Fender Obituary

Services for Henry Fender, 85, of Willowick, will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Fender passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his home.

Born November 1, 1929 in Poland, he emigrated from Germany in 1952 and has lived in Willowick for the past 45 years.

He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church on Nottingham Road in Cleveland and also attended The First Baptist Church of Willowick . He loved spending time with his family, in addition to visiting flea markets and garage sales, listening to German music and meeting his friends at McDonalds.

Mr. Fender was employed as a machine operator at Caterpillar Towmotor Corporation in Mentor for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1981.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Ella; children, David (Debra) Fender, Mark (Ilona) Fender, Linda (Gary) Strassler and Debbie Fender; grandchildren, Sarah, Carrie, Joshua, Hannah, Megan and Amber; great-granddaughter, Adalaina; sister, Aline and brothers, Sigmund and Richard, all of Germany. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julianna Fender and his brother, Edward.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the funeral home. The Rev. Donald L. Leitch will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.
