Obituary for Jack Shultz

Services for Jack L. Shultz, 87, will be 8 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Mr. Shultz passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Mentor-Way Care Center, following a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Born September 29, 1923 in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Northeast Ohio resident. He was a member of Shore Haven Lutheran Church in Euclid, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge 1228. He also served in the United States Army during World War II, seeing action at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed boxing and spending time with his family. Mr. Shultz was employed as a machinist at the former Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation for 31 years, and later worked as a starter at Briardale Greens Golf Course in Euclid for several years. Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Ruth J (Wills) Shultz; daughters, Sandra (Michael) Pollack of Willowick and Darlene (Ronald) Henry of Mentor; son, Jack (Laura) Shultz of Mentor-on-the-Lake; grandchildren, Mike and Shari Pollack and Melanie Wargo and Kevin Henry; nephews, Jerry (Pam) Bowen, David Bowen and Jeff Bowen and niece, Cindy Bush. His parents, Smith and Electa Shultz and sister, Genevieve Bowen are deceased. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, February 22, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis R. Juengel of Shore Haven Lutheran Church will officiate at the service at 8 PM. Private interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
